Sweet Change Weight Loss Coaching & Accountability Group is a step of faith in many ways. It is a risky journey for you in that you have to put in the effort or it will not work. It’s risky for me as well. I’ll share more about that in a bit.
Losing 250 pounds was not an easy process. The ingredients it took were pretty much opposite of the way I had always lived my life. If you have a weight issue, I know we have many things in common. That’s why I know this process will work for you because it worked for me. My mentor often says, “Trust the process.” It’s that process I will be taking you through.
I can say this after receiving countless emails, private Facebook messages and individual reviews of my memoir.
There are three major issues I want to address. All three of these are reasons I finally decided to take this risky step of offering Sweet Change Weight Loss Coaching & Accountability Group back in July. It’s also why I’m giving a limited time offering now. More about that in a bit.
“Two are better off than one. For they can help each other succeed.”1
As a morbidly obese woman I hated admitting to anyone I needed help. I mean I would admit it to my doctor because she already knew it. Truth is everyone else knew it as well, but I wanted them to THINK I was doing something about my issue.
So I smiled and put on a good face. Inside I was dying. I wanted to be rid of this mountain of flesh that followed me everywhere I went. I wanted to find a diet that would work so I could fix my problem.
Accountability or sharing what I was doing would admit I had a problem and I wasn’t ready to admit that to anyone else. I knew I needed help, but I wanted silent help that I could manage on my own.
Accountability, though, is a key part of weight loss. I was a pro at saying to family, “I’ll just have a small piece,” and then go back three or four more times when I thought they weren’t looking.
The first thing I learned was I had to be accountable to myself first and then to others. I had to lean on others when I felt weak and wanted to go off the program I had put myself on.
“Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance.”2
Integral to accountability is a mentor, someone who has been through something similar to what you have. They have the experience to understand where you are, where you need to go and how to get there.
My mentor is a counselor who had been a sober alcoholic for over 20 years when I began his harmful life patterns group.
What he taught me about my food addiction and the grace of God moved me forward in ways I never imagined. I had been a Christian since the age of 7, but the pieces he helped put in place for me accessed God’s power in my life in a phenomenal way.
I always knew God was the key element in my journey, I just didn’t understand there were some things I needed to do to free God to work in my life.
A mentor can ask questions that unlock what is already in your brain. Because mentors have enacted the discipline to overcome great difficulties in their lives, they have mastered something and can now teach others how to do the same.
As your coach and mentor, I so long to impart as much as I can about this journey. I will give you as you can absorb and the ability to ask me any question, even the personal, difficult ones. Believe me, I’ve answered many. If you are willing to ask, I am willing to answer to the best of my ability.
Connecting With God
Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.”3
The vital key to overcoming any great obstacle or limiting belief in your life is knowing that Jesus is with you on the journey. It’s knowing that He is pulling for you, waiting for you to take that first step towards a new life.
It’s knowing He’s been there all along and He’s just waiting for you to surrender self-effort and the lone ranger attitude and tap into His abundance.
It’s believing He sees gold at your core, that He has placed something beautiful inside you and is just waiting for you to release it so it can blossom into the fullness He has designed.
It’s knowing you are so very, very weak, but He is so very, very strong. His strength is made perfect in our weakness.4
The Faith Step
“Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.”5
I resisted offering weight loss coaching for some time. I wanted a guarantee that you would be successful on this journey. The truth is, I can’t offer you a guarantee. You are the only one who can guarantee your success.
Here is what has to happen for you to have a measure of success:
- Be wiling to do the hard work.
- Be willing to be honest with those of us on the journey with you.
- Be willing to reach out for help when you need it.
- Be willing to listen to your mentor, that’s me by the way.
- Be willing to learn to listen to and be obedient to what God wants you to do.
- Do the stuff that seems hard.
- Forget the word “try.” I hate that word.
The risk for me is that you join this program and pay your monthly fees and never watch the videos, work the action steps, answer the questions, post in the group, reach out for help or share anything. If this is the case, you will not be successful.
Now after several months of coaching I know this: If you commit to the journey and do all the things mentioned above, you can’t help but have a sweet change. You will be different if you are willing to do the work.
I can lead you through the process of discovery of who you are and what is holding you back. I can share everything I know that has helped me be successful. After four months we have individuals who are losing at least 10 pounds a month. It is not predicated on me, but on the commitment, passion and vision of each person—on you. The group has become that safe place where folk can come, get direction and assistance on their journey from me and the others in the group.
I won’t lie. I will challenge you, stretch you and ask you to dig deep to discover motives, strongholds and issues that might be holding you back. I will ask tough questions. If you are not willing to go there, this is not the group for you. Transparency and openness is a key that will begin to set you free. No honesty, no breakthroughs.
I will tell you this will be a different kind of weight loss experience. I know after losing 250, almost 260 pounds, weight loss in an inside job. When you get a vision for who you want to become, cast off the mindsets holding you back and with passion and commitment reach for your goals, nothing will hold you back. As a matter of fact, you will feel the very wind of God at your back propelling you forward.
Don’t hesitate to grab your seat. You are worth the investment. I know how much money I paid for programs that didn’t work. This one will work because it is not a quick, easy fix. It goes to the core of the issue and compels you to learn how to change.
