Marilyn Stanaway says she went to Roots and Wings so her husband, a farmer, would go.
During the seminar, though, she realized a personal tragedy that had happened years before had been affecting her every day.
“My sister committed suicide 15 years before,” she said. “I never dealt with it. I stuffed it. I drank. I was not an alcoholic, but it was headed to being a problem. Alcoholism is definitely in my family.”
As a result of what she learned, she quit drinking. “Alcohol is not a solution,” she said. “It just makes the problem bigger.”
Marilyn says the seminar helped her get all the emotions out and deal with them. “I just feel peace and freedom.”
