Woman Leaping At Sunset

Thump, ka-thump, scratch, scrunch.

Rhythm disrupted,

Life skips a beat.

Rats racing in a maze.

Cats waiting to pounce.

Dogs panting with glee.

The merry-go-round continues.

Pleasant, then faster, faster,

‘Til the children scream and hang on in fear.

Somewhere, somehow,

I am on hold.

Suspended, upended,

Dismembered and wondering.

I fall on my face writhing in my sweat.

Anguish, fear, overwhelm, frustration.

Then I hear it, starting softly,

Building cascading to highs

And lows, loud then soft,

Higher, higher to a momentous crescendo

Of light and beauty and sound.

Connecting.

Knowing.

Understanding.

In the presence of Wisdom.

Nothing and everything change

In one moment of surrender.

Thump, thump, thump, thump.

Rhythm in sync,

Clear and distinct.

All of life is but a song.

Children living free.

Moms hugging tight.

Dads steadily strong.

The carnival continues.

Pleasant afternoon at the park.

The children squeal in delight.

I am here now.

Suspended in Grace.

Holding tight. He never fails.
