God has a destiny plan for your life. You may have no clue what it is or you may have an inkling. In either case, He’s working on your plan even right now. Part of the plan is for your very bones to vibrate with life. He’s even given you gifts to help you reach your destiny.
We all have a statement which sums up our lives. We may not know it until we leave this earth, but there is a destiny statement for each of us, much like the one-line explanations of the lives of men and women of faith in Hebrews 11.
Not A One-Time Event
Stepping into destiny isn’t a one-time event. It comes when I begin to learn how to fully depend on God. Everything which comes into my life is meant to teach me how to do that. Everything. When I get to the point where I think I can handle this myself, I’ve just stepped out of my destiny.
The Holy Spirit gives me gifts I can use on this journey, however I need Him to activate them. He will, when I submit my plans to Him. I have to trust God from the bottom of my heart. I have to strop trying to figure everything out on my own. I must listen for God’s voice in everything I do and everywhere I go. He’s the One who will keep me on track. I can’t assume I know it all. I have to run to God and from evil.1
Then, and only then, God’s promise will come true that my body will glow with health and my very bones will vibrate with life!1
I’m realizing more and more how my thoughts, emotions and status of my spirit is related to my overall health. It says it right in this scripture. There are several things I need to follow to achieve that overall health.
This is number one on the list because I can do nothing apart from Him. Trusting God means I believe He will keep His promises to me all the time, not just every once in awhile. He will protect me, provide for me and direct my paths. He knows everything about me and still gives me grace to live each day.
The opposite of trusting God is to be self-reliant, take matters into my own hands and try to figure it all out on my own. It’s the I-can-do-it myself attitude.
God is like a patient parent with a two-year-old. He sits back and waits until we give up or fail. Even then He won’t intervene unless we ask.
When we admit we are weak and can’t do it, His grace swoops in like the hero He is to save us. “My grace is enough. It’s all you need. My power is made complete in your weakness.”2
Don’t Assume I Know
Where does the know-it-all attitude come from? I could say, “Well, its genetic. I’m an oldest child. I was born with a leadership gift. I’ve just always known instinctively what to do.”
All of those may be true, but I do not know better than God. He may have given me gifts of leadership, wisdom, teaching, writing and compassion, but that’s so I will submit those gifts to Him.
Submission to a higher authority’s wisdom is not only necessary, it’s very freeing. I can unload every care and concern on His massive shoulders, hand it to Him and let go. He will take it from there. When I think I know what to do without consulting Him, I am doomed.
Listen for God’s Voice
This verse tells me how to do teach her how to do that. It’s simple. “Listen for God’s voice in everything. Run to God.”1 That’s the first place I should always go.
Do I want my body to glow with health and my bones to vibrate with life? I can’t try to figure it all out or assume I know it all. I must be teachable. I must allow the Holy Spirit to reign supreme.
After all, that’s His primary goal for me. He could care less how I look. He does want me to be healthy in order to fulfill the destiny He has for me.
The same is true for you. He has a plan for you. It’s a greater-than-you-can-think-imagine-or-dream3 goal. His destiny for you is something you won’t know until you get there, but when you do, it will blow your socks off. You only reach it by totally trusting Him.
“We are God’s poetry, a recreated people who will fulfill the destiny He has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, He planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it.”4
